What does Google Play Store Error 905 mean?

This 905 error apparently happens to many users of Android smartphones and tablets, especially the Galaxy S5, S4, HTC, Sony Xperia and many more. Still, the trouble usually has more to do with the application itself rather than of one of the smartphones or devices.

This error always appears when you are trying to update or download an app. The download works perfectly without any trouble, but the Error 905 message appears when the process comes to installation. We have tried different methods and one of the solutions has helped us to fix the issue. You can read about it below.

We think the error happens because of a bad update of Play Store in the device, and then it occurs when you try to download and install heavy applications and games. This problem could have happened due to other reasons, but the other possible reasons are very few.

In short, what we will do here is uninstall updates from the Google Play Store app, but if the error still exists after that, you need to make sure that your phone has enough free storage space. For instance, if you want to download an application that’s 500 MB, then you will need to make sure you have in your device storage much more free space than that number; otherwise, that 905 error will show up when you install the app.

How you can fix Error 905 in your Google Play Store

First, go to Settings > Manage applications, then move to “All” (usually the far-right tab) and look for the Google Play Store. Now, select the application and press on the button which says “Uninstall updates”.

After selecting the button, it will take a brief moment when all updates are erased. After this is done, you should be able to open Google Play Store normally again.

If the error persists, please follow the steps below:

    1. If a newer version of Play Store is available online, try downloading the APK and installing it manually.
    2. If that doesn’t work or you already had the latest version, remove the data and cache from Play Store (you can find it in the same place where the uninstall updates option exists).
    3. Restart the Android device.
    4. Uninstall your recently installed applications.
    5. Make sure that you have enough storage space available in the internal memory of your Android device, and also make sure you have enough storage space available in your external memory (usually a microSD card memory).

Okay, with all the different options explained above, Error 905 on your Android device should be fixed; if not, please go back and make sure everything was done in the correct way. Hopefully, this will put an end to your Play Store Error 905 problem once and for all.
